What makes packs enjoyable? (~ pack types & play styles)

My long-ish 'rant' that is borderline full on psychoanalysis; Feel free to tl;dr and answer the title in comments.
As usual I spent more time thinking about packs than making one. There are quite a few types of packs but for this discussion I will list a few; Obviously #1 is kitchen sink, though it's not really an abstract category because being all rounded it's a combination of playstyles. And obviously really any pack, even highly specific, will have a combination of aspects.
Crafting is exemplified in things like skyblocks - nothing to explore, just craft. Basically it emphasises the Skinner Box aspect; make thing A to make more of resource A to make machine B to make resource B, automate, etc. And an obvious subset of this is questing like Sevtech - while it has the other elements, it's still centred around this loop.
RL Craft (yes I know it's overrated) and Valhelsia are on the combat and building ends of 'Adventure'. And then you have dedicated 'Adventure' packs like Journey to the Core or Regrowth or Survival Islands, Crash Landing, Exoria, etc, etc. - what I will respectfully call gimmick packs, being the broadest category. They are all wildly different yet the common thread is some sort of intrinsic limitation that provides meaning. And really this area is pretty endless in that you could have the entire overworld covered in snow, ocean, spawn in the nether, Galacticraft with tweakers and custom gen, etc. And of course things like Hostile Worlds, Storms and Tornadoes, Tough As Nails, etc. These radically change what it means to exist in the world by undermining something (almost always safety) that is taken for granted. Though here is also TerraFirmaCraft - undermining the vanilla system almost entirely (and obviously stuff like Pixelmon, Craft to Exile).
Perhaps the pack has this change in mind specifically, like "Safety Lost is a survival focused mod pack, focusing on challenging survival through mechanics rather than enemy difficulty or expensive recipes. Rather than just trying to make everything a slow and painful grind Safety Lost tries to make things tense by using mods like Hardcore Darkness and Tough As Nails to add new pressures and dangers rather than filling the world with monsters and increasing resource costs and tedious amounts of work. "
And finally on the other end of the spectrum are townys, harvest moons, stuff like Peace of Mind, etc. and any sort of play that is centred around building. Are these types an exhaustive list? Probably not.
I personally think that a combination of these leads way to a 'purposeful' pack - i.e. something that moves away from the degenerate fantasy escape / slot machine with extra steps. Though we can completely remove singled out elements like combat (e.g. Peace of Mind) or exploration (skyblocks), and that's perfectly fine. But if you were to remove most ~ all but 1 element it feels more and more like a fabricated game that just happens to use Minecraft as the game engine. It stops being a world / simulation and starts being a casino.
Take Factorio as a simpler example. If you remove the threat of combat then it becomes a crafting loop and is edging closer and closer to being like a dressed up idle game or something. Similar can be said for SkyFactory, and if we are going to be cynical we could say that the major game loop is basically the same as an idle game, who's saving grace is complexity of automation and not merely just clicking upgrade.
Personally I've struggled with the addiction that comes. Nothing can feel better than sitting down to start a new world a build a little cabin, when life is stressful and you don't feel like you're going anywhere. That's what I mean by enjoyment and purpose - like actual enjoyment and purpose.
In a way it's actually hard to conceive of any instance of Minecraft that isn't ripe to be extremely addictive and psychologically regressive. After all it's designed to be a 'children's game' (despite the median consumer being well older). We can point the finger at Minecraft as a base or the mods themselves as a game that is inherently designed into addictive and often shallow loops; but I don't think that's completely true. And obviously it's entirely up to how someone chooses to spend their time in a healthy way. In saying that I think it's largely just how the potential of modded has developed. For instance the massive popularity of SkyFactory can be attributed simply to the fact that it's the most obvious direction to go with the modded feel, e.g. rf feels very modded as opposed to vanilla. SkyFactory is simply the top piece of a pyramid which at the bottom are mechanics like pipes, rf, etc. Likewise with RL Craft, and so on.
One solution is to see Minecraft as a simulation as opposed to a game. What I mean is that all of the above analysis is analysis of Minecraft as a game. If we analyse it as a simulation, then primarily Minecraft is about spaces and form, and the primary factors are things like movement and block types. From this perspective we could say Minecraft is quite underdeveloped. You can walk, sprint, swim, and that's about it. Modded tends to opt for obtaining something close to creative flight. And block types are largely trivial (maybe Mojang had a similar idea with powder snow).
When I think about the ways Minecraft was constructive or 'served its purpose' as opposed to being a drug, it's when I stepped back and learned the more broad principles about what I was doing - like how to build in a way that's open to future needs, 'functional aesthetics', or simply viscerally feeling that a 100x100x100 cube really is made up of a million blocks - something that while we know mathematically is hard to appreciate until you're placing them.
Some of my memorable experiences in Minecraft: Building my first shelter, building a nice shelter, completing the crappy cobblestone stair case down to bedrock the first time, realising I could just jump into a water pool and get down in 3 seconds, building a tower near my base so I could find it because I didn't know about F3 coords, connecting a river to the ocean, creating a waterfall and ridding it down in the boat (we've all done this, right?), laying minecart track when I was still blissfully unaware how useless it is, nether highway, building a wall around a village and then having a zombie spawn inside and kill everyone anyway. Setting a modded fan to max vertical push and using it as my hand glider launch pad, etc. etc.
Clearly I'm biased towards building but don't get me wrong I love melting my dopamine receptors on Omnifactory as much as the next guy. I said most memorable, not most enjoyable. If anything I love automation, resource amassment and power creep cause it's addictive af and appeals to what nerds are good at.
We could say that Minecraft is doomed to be degenerate because there's no nuance in crafting or building. Plugging Lego pieces together. And on the other hand we would say: Why ruin Minecraft's simplicity. I mean you could literally make a pack where people have to learn to program Lua just to progress. (and I'm pretty sure something like that exists already). I think it's less about adding legitimate barriers to dopamine as it is removing the necessity of quick shallow dopamine loops to progress in the game. Paradoxically, making things easier and moving away from Avaritia would actually make the game harder.

What all of these memories have in common is they gave the adult lego blocks an in-world purpose. OK, towny is the best? Clearly not. Obviously towny can be basically just as bad because it can be it's own power creep. It's not merely in-world mechanics over magic box.
One continuation is heavier platforming; to have more block types and movement. Here we can give more movement abilities by default or easy to renew, like double jump, leap, side step mods (these already exist). Different move speed on different blocks is tempting but it could easily kill the fun. Or make all the blocks slippery like ice, speed up the mobs, hilarity ensues. It's not the platforming that's important. The general idea is to just 'be' in the world is more pleasing - to 'incentivize' building of projects that are fun to test, not fun to complete, caving because it's fun, not because you need ore W for magic box P, etc. In vanilla these might be the many carnival style games seen on SMPs and so on. My point isn't that this is what would make a 'better' pack - just one example of a pivoted philosophy. And to, immediately contradict myself, a big appeal of modded is obviously, exactly; Get ore W for magic box P. It appeals to the git r' dun mentality.
Previously I would fuss over various 'psychopathic' aspects of the game - As many have pointed out, Survival should really be called Conquest. You are the pillager of the villages, not the hero. You're the one that desolates the environment for consumption. It's a power fantasy. So you have mods like pollution of the realms, Nature's aura, etc. Yet it's hard to see these as anything more than chores and minute hurdles to be automated over. And it's impossible to remove the Mine out of Minecraft even with mods like Harder Branchmining, Heat & Climate (makes you suffocate in underground airblocks). These will all simply be interpreted as chorelike things to be overcome with more power. Speaking of - that's the exact 'issue' with things like Tough as Nails and Hardcore Darkness. (I'm not saying they're not part of a solution, just that they aren't the secret sauce).
I'm not sure exactly what this would look like. Prospecting and adventuring for biomes can be boring, on the other hand if it is varied enough it's a lower dopamine, higher engagement activity. I also had the thought that mods like Bountiful and Vending Machine more accurately resemble the reality we live in. The question becomes; On the one hand playing the game exists as an extremely accelerated version of tangible success (which we can learn from and/or get addicted to) on the other hand it exists as a realm for the things that we would never do in real life - an outlet or sharpening stone. And then there just the simple fact that the purpose of the game is be an extreme fulfilment of the natural drives.
Tl;dr I don't think it's things that need to be added to the game, rather a minimalism that avoids certain dopamine high activities, such as grinding for ore tripling or unlocking heavily gated content. That way players can be in the moment as opposed to chasing some addictive completion curve.

What’s the deal with the casinos?

Recent midwest transplant here. I’m not much of a gambler but I’d like to learn more about what casino here is good for what...
Which has a decent casino for low-minimum games?
Which casino has the best drink specials / bar?
Etc. Share your insights!
So far I’ve just kicked around the peppermill and the GSR. Great facilities and definitely class casinos but I’m looking for some direction as to what fun can be had at the many others. Thanks!
P. S. The smoke was AWFUL today

Console Clear DS Lite Refurbished The top hinge broke on the original black & blue housing, as they're wont to do, so I put it in a new one altogether. I think the aesthetic is cool. It was the cheapest one I could find that's stateside on ebay, so it's not top quality, but it works. Comes with OEM charger, clear GBA slot cover and clear stylus as well. Pics here.
Console Black DS Lite Used Nice overall condition, bottom screen has some scratches that I've tried to capture in the pictures. Comes with OEM charger. Pics

Surprisingly, the other things all work great on one of them. Lots of decent parts to harvest. Battery, cartridge reader, metal hinge, bottom housing, bottom screen, etc. Pics. I also have the housing and buttons leftover from the other one I shell-swapped, it's black & blue. Ok condition overall.

Low-value Pokemon cards - preferably ones kids have beaten up to some extent. My 5-year old is into them now and couldn't care less about condition, he just likes them a lot. I've realized I've completely missed the boat on these when it comes to valuation, I'm going to hold off on trading for any until I can get better acquainted.
Original hard case for PS Vita Slim - my kid broke the hinge on mine and the Amazon replacement is... not good.
Castlevania (GBA) - Looking for all 4 games: NES, Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon. Double pack would be great, too.
Mega Man Battle Network games: Network Transmission (NGC), MMBN 2 (GBA), Battle Chip Challenge (GBA), MMBN 4 : Blue Moon (GBA), MMBN 5: Team ProtoMan & Team Colonel(GBA) & Double Team DS (NDS), MMBN 6: Cybeast Gregar (GBA)
Dreamcast OEM Memory Card, Quality Games (Sonic Adventure 2, Skies of Arcadia, etc.)
Pokemon: SoulSilver (Bix box & cardboard tray only, already have the game & case. The Pokewalker & its' manual would be a plus, but not a requirement)
NES/SNES/N64/GameCube/Switch Offers Note: I currently have most first-party/major release Switch games. Feel free to still offer, though. No interest in Amiibo or Amiibo Cards.

Review, Guide and tips from a 2+ year F2P pro

BACKGROUND: I started playing DR almost right after it came out of beta and was blown away by the graphics, amount of cosmetic customization (both upon char creation and amount of costumes/styles/color dyes) as well as the gameplay (particularly PVP) w/ blocks, evades, timing of skills, etc. for a phone game.
Over the years, I have waxed and waned on the game, sometimes bored and not playing for a couple weeks, sometimes going back to it and playing 5+ hours a day for several days at a time....
All in all, for an action based RPG, I have yet to find a better one (e.g., Hundred Souls, BDM, and several others all fell short for various reasons, though of course there are aspects of those games that are done better than DR (nothing is perfect after all)....
At the very bottom of this post, I will list out several areas that Nexon could easily improve on (the "cons" of the game), just so I don't come off as too much of a nuthugger...
But first given my 2+ years of playing experience, I wanted to give a few observations and pointers (some of which I already wrote, mostly in replies to questions on other posts here):
1) everything is possible via F2P. It may not seem like it, but there is always to grind your way to a certain item or attribute or pet or costume or whatever--even super rare stuff like gilded pirate costumes or S rank att unicorns or BOTH PVE and PVP unknown weapons, and IF you strategize it right, it often won't take nearly as much time or as many RNG rolls as initially appears...
Everything can and w/ enough persistence will be grinded out and eventually won via their Gatcha RNG casino system... The newly designed/layout Crafting system which got a completely rehaul about 5 or 6 updates ago, is a perfect example. Everyone bitched about it cause it was new and more complicated but actually it allowed for MUCH easier ways to craft stuff like refine stones, pet tickets etc.
I won't go into details here (too long and too many things to talk about) about probabilities or RNG optimization strategies, but if there is a specific thing you want to ask, go ahead in the comments...
But one example I'll give is that on my main toon it took me forever to get a decent S rank att pet. I never put a lot of thought into it... and also just figured it was a lost cause.... Ended up using a good S rank HP pet, figured my main toon was kind of a tank build anyways. But in late stages of PVE, att becomes critical (you can always dodge n avoid getting hit, but doing damage becomes harder and harder in PVE Endgame)... Anyways, I even had TWO S -rank attack unicorns on my other toons but not even a single S rank att pet (of any kind, let alone unicorn or owl or pixie) on my main.
So what did I do? one day when i had the excess gold and excess time, I just spent 15 minutes crafting pet tickets, dissembling useless pets, using the dissembled materials to craft more tix, rinse wash and repeat several dozen times: and after 200+ (i shit you not, it took 200 tickets) tries I finally got my S rank att pet. It was a 46,000+ att one, not a unicorn or owl, but if I spent another 15 to 30 minutes, grinding in the same way, I'm sure I would have eventually gotten a unicorn (probability for the win). It then took around 75 mill gold to upgarde and transcend that pet, but anyways....
Morale of story: something I thought was impossible and had given up on, only took 15 minutes (and a ton of gold) when I finally put my mind to it.
2) And there are MULTIPLE ways to power (both in F2P and presumably in P2W). I dont pay any $ both out of principle but also as a challenge to myself (see point 1 above). Most things you want to accomplish in terms of upping CP or beating a specific boss can be figured out (w/o spending rl dollars) if you think about it long enough, and there is usually more than 1 way. I've seen other (more skilled) players beat Kong (guild raid) or even the Dwarf King when they are millions of CP underpowered because they figured out and executed a great strategy...
There are so many different ways to grind for example....
Need polish? Auto grind GoD (or "gate of grind" as some players call it) overnight... In the morning you will have plenty of polish.... Or grind DD for polish and gold (you can also sell DD chests for tons of gold too and sell (or use for dissemble materials) the B-A+ armor and weap chests from DD....
Need gold? spend 12k gems for 40 mill, or spend 1k gems at a time on the lobby shop gift (the one they keep tucking into different categories with each update, and changing the name of...). Or sell essence (after 350 attribute level max, essence from auto clearing adven stages is basically useless). Or sell something else that is high value in your inventory that you don't need/want (emotes pieces, lower gear chests, etc. etc. etc.).
There are almost always several different ways to solve one CP plateau. Be creative.
Speaking of which, even though they have NERFED the lobby gem bags at least TWICE that I can recall, it's still a tremendous value. Certainly more efficient than spending 2,500 on the Refine stone gem bundles in the shop or buying breakthru or pet upgrades or weap/armoaccessory upgrades in the shop. The only thing you can't get in these gem bags are transfer fossils. They are also excellent for replenishing gold and clear tix. Altho if you are REALLY starved for gold, you could also go the 12k gem for 40mm gold in shop route as already mentioned.
3) Nexon does a good job of making adjustments as well to game mechanics, RNG odds, and gameplay difficulties.
In my 2 years, there have been hundreds of tweaks to drop rates, skill damage for certain classes (best example is the mage who was underpowered compared to archer and most other classes for almost a year, then in latest update they made her basic attack roid up after certain skills, now making her on par or perhaps even better than most other classes), and gameplay difficulty (they have adjusted stage numbesr and difficulties for Raid, DuoD, GoD, Gold mine, and added new adventure levels (more difficult) at least 3-4 times EACH for all of those.
The point is, they understand their own game well, listen to player feedback, and are constantly looking for ways to make: 1) things more balanced, 2) players happier, and 3) address loopholes (see above re: nerfing the lobby gem bags, when those suckers first were introduced, you could get 50+ S refines and even morph crystals in just a few bags (at 1k gems per bag), super super super good deal); and kick hackers etc.
Of course they are not perfect, there are always going to be Chinese bots and Russian hackers exploiting stuff like auto running Sod level 1 or Infitinty Tower (the 2 more recent hacking issues I can think of), but Nexon did recently ban a whole bunch of people for the Infinity tower hack. They do their best and listen to player complaints, for the most part.
4) Even for F2P, it's super easy to up CP SUPER FUCKING QUICK. See Xerxanna's posts on here for details and also great advice to do so...
That brings me to my next point: CONVERGENCE THEORY: this is a concept from Economics that basically says it's easier for poor countries to "catch up" to rich ones than it is for rich ones to stay ahead (e.g., 1st world countries spend billions on research for breakthrus while 3rd world ones can just piggyback off the inventions of the 1st world, e.g. Korea went directly to cell phones, they didn't have a vast network of phone towers and landlines like the U.S. did, so they just jumped to the next level with less friction/cost).
DR Example: when they introduced Witch, and 2 years later the Guardian, I saw some players get these new toons to 20 mill CP within 2-3 day or less. This is because the other 5 or 6 toons (your "main" toons) will accumulate lots of loot that becomes obsolete to them but which can be used / donated to the new toons. Also, because your experience leveling up the prior toons provide a roadmap for the new one... (not to mention people hoarding EXP, gold, skill chests etc. because they knew there would be a new toon soon). That segues to my next point:
5) play all toons. Just my 2 cents.
The higher CP all your toons are, the better output from farming, even if you only consider 1 or 2 of those toons to be your "mains" and spend 90% playing those 2.
Example: 6 of my toons (not guardian yet) are platinum or above in Duel PVP... That means every week I get 900 to 1,400+ gems per toon for the Duel season award. Every WEEK. Just from pvp season awards, I get over 25k+ gems each week (weekly season awards, not counting win awards or dailies).
Add guild season awards and daily ranked match gems, daily quest gems, and weekly quests (but tbh I don't always have time to complete the dailies or weeklies) and you'll end up easily netting anywhere from 50k to 80k+ gems a week.
6) Always contribute max amount to camp gem mine. ALWAYS.
You can always change your mind and take it out before the interest accrues... But remember, as you get higher lvl in the game, gems become easier to acquire (see PVP season awards above), and 100k gems in the mine = 10k gems every 2 weeks at a 10% interest rate (more if you care to invest gems upfront to increase the interest % above 10% like I did). It's also a way I use to justify spending. For example if I throw 90k gems in the gem mine, then I feel like I can just spend the 50k or 60k I have left on things like costume chests or lobby gem bags.
7) Don't neglect any part of the game. Everything will become relevant at some point. E.g. when I was around midgame (around 15 mill CP per toon), I suddenly had more gold then I knew what to do with.... But then in endgame (20 to 25 mill CP) I discovered I almost never had enough gold. So don't forget/neglect things like gold mine just cause you got plenty gold this week. Plan ahead.
Same for camp. For the longest time, I just stopped using camp and village. They seemed useless and there were more efficient (and more fun) things to spend time on... But now that acc S+ fusion is 90% (instead of 50%) all of a sudden the Jade Acc parts you can buy in the Camp shop suddenly seem super fucking valuable. Now I can't accumulate enough apples in the camp to buy Jade Acc parts (for more S+ acc fusion fodder)... Seems like quickest path to get lvl 10 transcend on my main toons' accessories to me (chime in if you found a more efficient way) .
Again, this goes to Nexon tweaking stuff constantly. if there is a feature of the game that people neglect, they will try to find a way to make it slightly more fun and more rewarding (in terms of loot) so that people take a new interest in it.
8) when you have dumbass questions, your first source for answers (assuming your guildmates don't know or don't care to answer) is to check the Hall of Power and see what the top 10 to 50 players do. Just copy them. Convergence Theory again, Ta Da!!!!
Example: every top player has for 1 of their 3 pages: two S (at top) wolfang and two A (at bottom) wolffang, with both the S ones having TWO gold boost traits. also a helm with two gold boost traits. That's just super obvious if you want to max gold farming when clearing advens. (but I'm sure most of you already do this)
That's all I can think of for now.... Again questions are welcome.
Now for some complaints and suggestions on how the game can be improved:
  1. the Story is pretty terrible (par for course for a phone game made by a foreign company) although it is coherent and the English voice acting is top notch for an Asian game, they could do a lot to spice up adventures / Story in general. For instance, make different routes in adventures stages so that you don't have to just follow one grind stage after another. (more "choose your adventure" style and face different bosses, get different rewards in the Story depending on your pathway choices).
They also seemingly completely gave up on the Story aspect when they released the hugely OPed and difficult Dwarven adven stages (there was no corresponding Story hahahah). Just... here are some new levels and some cool monsters, but no story to explain why or continuation of the Main Quest storyline... I'm sure at some point they'll get more of a budget to rehire the voice actors and mediocre writers to craft the next part of the Story for those dwarven levels tho..
2) this is my big one: ALLOW fking TOONS / ACCOUNTS TO BE TRASNFFERED ACROSS SERVERS GODDAMITEAH3898234Y98*(*@#$y&it()q^.
i used to play on the Asia server, then I moved back to U.S. And now..... I still play on the Asia server (meaning more lag and time difference (e.g., for guild pvp), harder to find PVP matchups cuz time diff, etc.) cause I'll be goddamned if I'm going to start from scratch after 2 years just cause I'm in a different region. I see no reason they should not do this. After all, even the Hall of Power now includes ALL servers (U.S., Europe, Korea, Asia).
3) make Brawl and Camp battles more meaningful. they're IMO the funnest forms of PVP, yet yield the lowest rewards (altho arguably Brawl is somewhat useful for getting S++ crescents). Simply grant some gem awards or season awards for these to make them more rewarding to play and so that enough people play so it's easy to get a game/match going.
Same for Four Guardians. Who even plays those? They could be fun as hell and a great new form of PVE if the rewards were better and the rip off of tower defense system less convoluted.... Get on it Nexon!!!!
4) make it easier to communicate among guild mates and during PVP battles and Coop raids. typing during battle is too difficult. Easily solved with some hotkeys etc.
*although as an aside it is fun as hell to taunt people with Emotes during PVP :)
5) Less focus on costumes, and more on gear... Been too long (many months) before any new gear (last update was either the Unknown sets or the Glorious acc's) meanwhile there is a new costume set every fucking update... I know for some, cosmetics/beauty/fashion IS the Endgame, but come on....
6), this is my 2nd biggest gripe: less autoplay in PVP.
When fighting others who have autoplay on, it's both boring and also not fair (e.g, if I'm lagging and the CPU is able to perfectly time evades and counters despite the lag). Mostly it's boring cause auto PVP opponents are pretty easy to kill if you use the right strategies. When I'm in a team PVP and more than half the players are either bots (to fill the game) or on auto play, it is far less fun than if I'm playing w/ real people who are using their own controls instead of a computer. I've ranted about this particular gripe elsewhere so I'll stop....
Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Hope this was worth reading (kudos to those who got to end). Be well.
PS I play on Asia server. Guild: Venom8 (we have 3-4 open slots at moment if anyone needs a guild)
Toons: CrazyCarl, CheekyCher, SlySylvia, SaucySue, TimidTim, DeadlyDee and TardyTyler

Low-value Pokemon cards - preferably ones kids have beaten up to some extent. My 5-year old is into them now and couldn't care less about condition, he just likes them a lot.

Definitely a horror story, but who is at fault?

So, as a preface, I cuss a lot irl and that may come out here. Any grammatical errors are my own.
Cast:
Leela: Tiefling Bard-barian, CG, trans woman that has long made her money as a courtesan to the Guild. Jerry: Dragonborn Sorco-din, LG, Soldier background. Korpus: Half-Elf War Cleric/Ranger, CN, child of formerly powerful, now dead family (killed by assumed BBEG), self-proclaimed black market god. DM: First-timer; super permissive; allows players to explore the world at will; gold-rich, inflated economy; near-zero magic loot, but buyable enchantments; remarkably friendly dragons.
World: 5e based homebrew in a world with seven islands based on the seven deadly sins.
To open, Leela had to miss half of the first session, so DM made her a near-death mass huddled on an abandoned beach on the island of Envy, which the other players loaded into a cart pulled by a frog-man companion of Jerry. Jerry and Korpus come across a town populated primarily by elves, with a few half-elf slaves, and Korpus proceeds to try and intimidate a shopkeeper into selling him the entire shop for 50 gold. It doesn't work. He insists that he be allowed to roll again. it still doesn't work. Jerry lights something on fire to attempt to itimidate the shopkeeper, but he crit fails and the entire shop burns down, loot and all. They get an inn for the night, and in the morning Leela is awake.
She explains how she came to be half-dead on the beach, thanks Jerry and Korpus for their help, and all decide to travel together. Korpus goes to the shopkeeper and offers to buy the now-ruined shop for 20 gold. The shopkeeper agrees. Korpus finds two fishing poles, and the group goes fishing.
After catching frankly way more fish than was reasonable, the group goes back to town. they sell their fish at the inn, and Korpus announces that he has intimidated the innkeeper into selling him an unused portion of the building to build a restaurant, with gold he (as he claimed) borrowed from Leela. Leela says if she's loaning him the gold, she wants part ownership. Korpus agrees, and Leela goes on a small solo sidequest to find someone to cook in the restaurant. During her two-day absence, without the other PC's knowing about it, Korpus quietly builds an entire network of tunnels under the inn/restaurant, connected to the city sewer, using another half elf that he has taken as his slave, who knows Move Earth.
Leela brings back the cook, and old halfling woman with an affinity for cats and poor eyesight. Grandma, as she calls herself, takes a shining to Jerry immediately, calling him "scaly kitty", and gives him a magic stew that restores all health and removes all ill effects. Jerry shares with Leela and Korpus, and the stew is given a two day expiry period.
The following day, the group heads off for the big city. In this city is a Thieves Guild chapterhouse, an arena, some shops, and a casino. On the outskirts of the city, there is a large bay with a shipping port. Jerry goes to the port to order a ship, Korpus goes to the bar to spread rumors about the Thieves' Guild, and Leela runs off to the casino after buying all of the alchemists' potions. At the bar, Korpus is having no luck; as a newcomer, no one cares what he has to say. Jerry orders his ship, is given a seven day wait, and heads to the casino. At the casino, Leela is losing low-stakes games and drinking for free when the owner takes a liking to her. He makes suggestive comments, she tells him "You wouldn't know what to do with a girl like me", he offers her a tour, she accepts.
Korpus declares he's at the casino, walks up to interrupt Leela's tour, and starts trying to schmooze the owner. Fuckbox McDashing, the owner, doesn't take kindly to having his time wasted, and has Korpus thrown out. Korpus shouts that he evaded them, DM asks him what he rolled, Korpus says he rolld a 20 in acro. DM asks for a stealth roll, and Korpus announces a 19. DM says this passes on three guards but fails on the fourth due to rolling a 20. Korpus says he has a modifier he forgot to add, bringing his total to 22. DM says he passes, and Korpus approaches Fuckbox again. He rolls to pursuade Fuckbox not to toss him out again, and succeeds. He begins a monologue about how he's an up-and-comer in the criminal underworld, working to overtake and subsequently defeat Furless, the guy that killed his family and who currently holds major power in the Thieves' Guild. Fuckbox's eyes glaze over, and he resumes his conversation with Leela, who he knows by reputation from the Guild. They end up talking business, and finish up right about when Korpus ends his monologue. Fuckbox asks him plainly what exactly he wants, and Korpus begins another monologue about the world he envisions when he takes down the Thieves' Guild and replaces it with his own system. Fuckbox, sick of his shit by now, cuts him off and says "I don't care what you have to say, I what to know what you want from me. Korpus goes off into another monologue about how, with Fuckbox's support, he could bring about a new age of profit and success for the whole world.
Fuckbox chuckles lightly and invites Korpus and Leela to attend the arena fights as his guests. Upon arrival, Fuckbox walks up to the reserved viewing box, and steps up to the microphone; he announces to the crowd: "I'm happy to present to you the Nth annual Thieves' Guild Tournament; anyone may enter, only one can win!!!"
Korpus uses this opportunity to, once again, monologue. (Sweet Carol, Mother of Gob, Korpus monologues a LOT) He goes on about how he will go fight in the arena, and then Fuckbox will have to agree that he's better than the Guild and support him. Fuckbox casually informs him that the arena is for hand-to-hand combat, and no armor is allowed. Korpus, level 3 at this point, takes this as a challenge.
Korpus does remarkably well in his solo tournament, and returns to Fuckbox. Fuckbox is impressed, both with Korpus' success, and his ability to entirely not notice the Fuckbox is involved with the Guild and unwilling to break his loyalty.
Korpus and Leela leave the arena, Jerry following behind, and begin the trek back to the first town. Upon arrival, the group arrives to find that one of the slaves is hanging from an arch in the town square by her wrists, being beaten. Three other slaves waited, bound, clearly destined for the same fate. Leela and Jerry jumped into action, stopping the townspeople from beating the girl, and making an impassioned plea that they let the slaves go. Eventualy, the townspeople agree to pay the half-elves a wage and give them days off.
Following a few sessions of small skirmishes where Korpus is doing suspiciously well, and some straight RP wherein Korpus is rolling a ton of checks to build his guild, and Leela schmoozes a few dragons ito entrusting their eggs to her for safe-keeping, the group decides to leave the island. As they sail away on Jerry's ship, the party hears an explosion and the entire island is covered with foggy purple smoke. Korpus believes that this is the work of the Thieves' Guild. Jerry and Leela know that it isn't, but neither knows that the other knows.
Upon arrival at the island of Greed, the group finds a town where everyone is missing their left pinky. They investigate and find a beholder, and a cult that worships it. Korpus gets a stealth attack, and nearly takes out the beholder with his custom-enchanted bow. While Jerry deals with some cultists fairly handily, Leela finishes off the beholder with a jump attack. They return to town, pronounce the people saved, and are summarily rewarded. While the guys are in town reveling in their parade, Leela goes off to explore. She finds a small village of kobolds, and convinces them that she runs a dragon daycare. They decide to accompany her, and they all return to town. the townspeople take exception to Leela bringng kobolds into town, so she sends them back to the ship.
Korpus gets word that BBEG is on the island of Pride, and decides that's where we're headed next. The rest of the party, sensing some end-of-campaign vibes, wants to explore the rest of the world. Korpus asks th DM what he has to roll to go to Pride, and being new, the DM let him roll pursuasion with no saving rolls on the part of the other players. Jerry decides to go along with it, having plans of his own.
So the party arrives at the island of Pride and is immediately presented with Furless. Korpus and Jerry are the first to greet him, and Jerry casually stabs him dead. Oops, turns out Furless is just a regular guy. The party goes off to the arena on Pride, and decides to join in the 3v3 tournament. The first round goes well, the second is rough, and the third nearly kills Leela but she's healed. In the finals, a new element is added; a runic ring around the arena, spelling out 'fuck u'.
This spell ring prevents Korpus from opening dimension portals, and prevents healing spells from working. Suddenly, Jerry is transported out of the ring, and takes his place standing atop the VIP box. He announces that he has become a lich, and he has been amassing a horde of undead to take over the entire world; the party can join, or they can die. Korpus, with his endgame reached (Furless being dead), agrees to join. Leela also agrees to join.
Campaign over.
Now, postgame, Jerry is disappointed by the lack of fight from the rest of the party; Leela feels like she was railroaded by Korpus' constant insistence and the DM's permissiveness with him, she says it's bullshit that she didn't get to exlore any of her clearly relevant backstory; the DM is disappointed that Jerry and Leela are dissatisfied; Korpus is perfectly happy and refuses to accept any resposibility for whining his way into a "main character" slot, blaming the DM for allowing it.
This happened a few years ago, and some of the players refuse to play together at all anymore. It isn't my own story, and I've done what I can to tell the story as impartially as possible. I don't know exactly who the horror story is here, and I'm not privvy to the private conversations between the DM and each individual player during the campaign, so I don't know what happened behind the scenes.

Console PS2 Slim – Silver Used Includes OEM power & A/V cords, no controllers unfortunately.
Console PS3 CECHH01 – Black Used Nice shape. I’ve changed out the thermal paste and upgraded to 250GB HDD.
Non-working Consoles (4) PS2 – Fat Loose None of them read discs. 2 of them don't open easily. One is missing the back network adapter cover. One is missing the disc port cover. Aesthetically, they're not great. They all power on, they can read controllers & memory cards and get to browsesys config. Also includes 3 non-working PS2 OEM controllers. Pics Sold locally
DualShock 4 – Black – PS4 Accessory I soldered in a new left analog stick that was suffering from constant updrift. It’s going to need new rubber at some point, but it’s working wonderfully now.

Rockband Fender Stratocaster guitar controller – Black Accessory Xbox One, includes shoulder strap. Nice condition. Ideally I'd like to swap this for one for PS4.
WANT
Divinity: Original Sin 2 (Switch)
Castlevania (GBA) - Looking for all 4 games: NES, Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon. Double pack would be great, too.
Mega Man Battle Network games: Network Transmission (NGC), MMBN 2 (GBA), Battle Chip Challenge (GBA), MMBN 4 : Blue Moon (GBA), MMBN 5: Team ProtoMan & Team Colonel(GBA) & Double Team DS (NDS), MMBN 6: Cybeast Gregar & Falzar (GBA)
Rock Band 4 (PS4 - I just need a guitar and drums).
Dreamcast OEM Memory Card, Quality Games (Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, etc.)
Pokemon: SoulSilver (Bix box & inserts only, already have the game & case. The Pokewalker would be a plus, but not a requirement)
Nintendo Switch Lite - Console, any color, just another one for my other kid.
Xbox One - Console, any version as long as it takes discs and isn't banned from Xbox Live. Figure now that it's near end-of-life, I'd be interested in some of the exclusives for it and getting into the Game Pass ecosystem.
NES/SNES/N64/GameCube/Switch Offers Note: I currently have most first-party/major release Switch games. Feel free to still offer, though. No interest in Amiibo or Amiibo Cards.
