Backed off from Agua Caliente

I picked this casino because it had the only other $15 minimum double deck game within driving distance. Aside from Barona where I got banned from yesterday.
About an hour in I was up $350 after a couple blackjacks with my max bet out. Then over the next hour, I proceeded to lose $600.
It was at this point that I realized I have been playing a 6:5 double deck table the whole time. I was in the red and playing an unbeatable game.
Knowing y'all, I'm definitely going to get flak for this next point: I decided that since I'm never going to come back anyway, I might as well play really aggressively to either swing back to breakeven or get backed off.
I started wildly varying the bets from $15 to $100 on two spots the next when it went to TC 4 then back to $15 again as the count went down. The dealer made 21 a couple times against my max bets and I slid down to -$700.
The obvious counting went on for another hour. At this point I got a tap on my shoulder and a "Can I talk to you over here for a minute". "I'm and we've decided we can't take your action anymore".
So I got backed off after losing 10% of my bankroll while accidentally playing a 6:5 game for 3 hours. Not sure what the lesson is here.
PS: I asked which tables have 3:2 payout. Only the $50 minimum ones in the high limit room. Also the deck penetration varied from 1.25/2 to 1.5/2 depending on the dealer. More often 1.25/2.

Was I backed off??

Long time lurker thought I'd post to get some different perspectives on this situation that happened a few days ago. I was counting at Barona in Socal, love this casino btw great 10$ min double deck only place I've found in so cal with minimums that low. Very nice staff amazing buffet and they give comps really easily (yes I was playing rated, I'm new to counting and getting good rooms and buffets is half the reason I enjoy counting) I usually play double deck would spread from 10$ to 100 and even 150 sometimes split between two hands. I had suspected they knew I was a counter, I've been eyed hard by the pit before on some big wins. However this time I took a little break after playing for an hour, when I bought back in the pit boss was like "Hey anon you up today?" I replied "yeah just a couple hundred nothing crazy" I was sitting in the last position on the table so I was right next to him and he then says "yeah it's a lot easier when you're card counting" and winks at me. I reply something along the lines of "oh like that movie 21? I wish" he then gave me the biggest cut the shit look as he peered over his glasses I've ever received. I went on playing and played for a solid 3 hours after that. The only other thing he did was I was behind a table waiting for a spot and he came up and felt my front shirt pocket where I had my chips and said "ooo nice you have 3 or 4 blacks in there not bad". Were they just busting my balls? They never asked me to stop playing it almost had the vibe of yeah we know what you're doing try us, like an unspoken challenge. I just hope the next time I go back they dont bar me right when I walk in the door it's a solid 1hr 30min drive would hate to waste that time. Has anyone experienced something similar at Barona or any other casino? (Apologies if formatting is shit im on mobile)

Runner Runner Full House Over Full House Bad Beat

Barona Casino and Resort. Saturday August 17th. I'm sitting at a relatively soft 1/2 game with a max buy in of only 50bbs. I buy in for $60 and in two hours I double up. Last hand of the night. I had pocket Kings in cutoff and there's a button straddle. I raise to $12 and only hijack calls. Flop comes Ax 3x Kx. I flop a set. Action starts on him and he leads for $18. I ponder a raise but just call to try and trap. Turn comes another ace so I turn a boat and pretty much assume I have the best hand. He still leads for another $18 and (sorry for the rounders quote) all I was thinking about was Vegas and the fucking Mirage. I take a moment and call just KNOWING I have it made. River comes a 3. He bets $25. Aces full go through my head but it did not stop me from shoving the river for about $120. He asks me if I have AK but I'm stoic. After he asked that I had a bad feeling. He calls. I flip my pocket Kings. He flips Ad10d for aces full.

(Not) comprehensive guide to San Diego Indian Casino craps

San Diego county has a crap (ha!) load of big Indian casinos that are only getting bigger and bigger! I've gone a little crazy visiting all that I can lately and figured that y'all might like hearing about them!
Pechanga: Probably the biggest casino in the county by a big margin. It's got the flash and everything you'd expect from a Vegas casino, but to me, it's a little soulless and only going after your cash. It’s one of the older casinos here, but still nice and clean. They usually run 2 craps tables that are $10 and $15 min on the weekdays, but bump up to $15 and $25 on the weekends (I think), and they're always pretty lively until pretty late. The plus is that they also have a bubble craps machine with a $5 min but on the weekend, you have to expect to wait 30min - 1 hr to get a seat, but on the flip side, people will play literally all night, so if you're someone who doesn't want to play the Pass, you'll be happy. Their version of craps is that they have two sets of 6 cards, face up, and two different colored dice and the number on each die picks the card that’s used for the number rolled. They reshuffle the cards after the shooter sevens out.
Pala: Pretty big casino that is fairly new. Everything is neat and shiny. They have two craps tables that were $10 and $25 min on the weekend that I was there. The $25 table was rocking but the $10 table was dead (go figure…). It gets pretty dead later at night though. Their version is kind of funky…they have two different colored dice and the one with higher number rolled picks one card out of two face down cards. When the card is turned over, it’ll show a pair of dice combination that determines the point rolled (e.g. the card will literally show a picture of two dice with 3 on one and 4 on the other for a roll of 7). They reshuffle the deck every roll.
Pauma: Tiny casino. No craps, but they have an awesome 2-for-$20 prime rib dinner special every night :-P
Harrah’s: Medium sized casino that’s fairly new as well. They usually have two tables going with $10 and $25 min every day. I believe they have two more tables that they only run on big weekends, like holidays. They have the fire bet here. People will play at the tables deep into the night on the weekend, so you’re bound to get some action if you want, but weekday late nights are more iffy, so be careful. They are the only other casino here that has a bubble craps machine and it’s $5 min as well. It gets fairly crowded during peak hours, but not as bad as Pechanga, but it also clears out fast the second it gets past midnight or so. If you don’t want to shoot, you’ll be hard pressed to play past that time. Their version is like Pechanga’s, with two decks, but the cards are face down before you roll and they reshuffle after every roll.
Barona: Medium sized casino that’s probably one of the oldest right now, but it’s still quite nice and clean. Probably the most local friendly casino here, very folksy and welcoming. They have two tables. One is always $5 min and the other is usually $10 min and people will play all night here, every night. They offer sharpshooter and fire bets. It’s probably one of the consistently busy tables around here, which is great for late night people. Their version is one deck of cards, played face up, and the dice pick the cards. I like this more than the two deck version because a hardway roll on the dice is going to really be a hardway (or 2 / 12) so it’s more fun to cheer for a particular roll.
Sycuan: Medium sized casino that’s just as old as Barona, but they are opening a HUGE new casino this summer that should be pretty spectacular. Right now, they have one table that was $5 min when I went, but it was completely dead. I didn’t even look carefully enough to see how they do their cards, so I don’t know.
Viejas: Just opened a brand spanking new casino in the past year that looks great, naturally. It’s medium big in size. They have two tables, one that’s $5 min on weekdays and $10 min on weekends. The other is $10 weekdays, and $15 (maybe $25?) on weekends. The $5/$10 table is usually ok on the weekends until about midnight, then dies out. On the weekdays, it’s pretty quiet earlier, so be careful here too. They’re the only ones with the small-tall-all bet, which is pretty cool!
Jamul: Also pretty new but medium sized. They have one craps table that seems to be $5 min all the time. I haven’t been too many times, but it feels like it’ll get pretty quiet pretty fast on the weeknights and probably be pretty dead after 1am on the weekends. Not 100% sure on that. No jackpot bets, just standard craps. The cards are like at Barona, one deck, face up, reshuffled after a seven-out.
Hope this is useful to someone!

Play craps or buy a new car? Saw crazy dude last week

I was at the Barona Indian Casino last week and was playing at a table with a huge player. When I got there, the rails in front of him were completely filled with $500 chips and he had a handful of $1000 chips.
He was playing $500 pass with around 5x odds, and after the come out roll, he'd place all the remaining points for around $500 each.
And, boy did he pick the wrong day to play, because it was a complete nightmare with tons of "one point, seven out" rolls!
But, he kept on chugging along.
At one point, his rail was almost empty and he reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a gallon ziplock bag FILLED with $500 chips and just dumped them out on the table and refilled his rail like it was nothing.
I tried to keep track of how much he played, and I'm guessing he burned through at least $40k that night, in about 3 hours.
And, he was PISSED!
I hope they comped him something good...

Bachelor Party Ideas That Aren't Just Bars in SD

Hey Guys,
I was curious if you had any suggestions for things to do for a bachelor party in San Diego that's not just going to bars and Breweries. My friends definitely like to drink, but I've brought it back a bit and want to do something other than just going to bars. I already have a comedy show booked and dinner for the night downtown. I thought about Barona Casino, because it'll be on our way, but I don't gamble too much-- still a viable option though.
That morning/early afternoon we'll be leaving from a lunch thing setup for us in Ramona and have about 5 to 6 hours to kill before dinner and comedy show downtown, so anything in the general area/on our way would be great. Even though I don't plan on drinking, I'd like the guys to have that option.
Any ideas?
NOTE: The day I'm speaking of is next Saturday, the 26th and most guys are in their early 30's

Couple hours to kill in your fine city..

As the title says, I'll be there next week, Wednesday morning until my flight leaves again Thursday night. Thursday is pretty much filled up with work related things, but I have between about 10:00am and 5:00pm on Wednesday with nothing to do. What do you guys recommend? I'm from bumfuck nowhere Alaska so anything would be of entertainment value. I plan to go to the Barona casino to waste an hour or so, and was also considering the USS Midway museum but wasn't sure if I'd have enough time to do both and get back to my hotel for a schedule dinner around 6. Like any touristy places that are must see but not needing a specific time commitment? I'm not a people person but am cool with crowded places. Staying at the Rancho Bernando area if that helps at all.

[crit] Dale Noq [~1400] [Fiction]

This is my first ever attempt at writing. please give feedback. its the prologue in my novel in progress.
Barona Resort and Casino, one of the most famous casinos in Los Angeles. There are many tourists that come here and lose all of their money, luckily, I’m no tourist. I’m Dale Noq, an ‘average’ 16 year old with scruffy black hair, golden eyes and often mistaken for being much older. Maybe it’s because I talk eloquently, or maybe it’s because I’m tall, or maybe it’s just because I look worn. I’ve been on the road for the past five months. Five long months where each day was similar to today, but not the same. Today, in the cliched form, is the beginning of the end. Where planets come to die. Ok, maybe not quite so, but things changed. For better or for worse that’s your decision to make, I only tell the story. Barona Resort and Casino, one of the most famous casinos in Los Angeles. An adequate place for me to steal from others and take for myself. I open the big glass doors and enter the dark room with disco balls twirling about. Pulling down my hat, I side step behind some machines and stealthily maneuver myself to the less flashy, darker, more illegal side of the room. I notice many people leaned over with their noses pressed against slot machines hoping for a lucky run. This’ll be my lucky day, they think their last thought to themselves as they put their hand in their pockets for the next $20 bill they don’t have. They no longer have the cash to go get drunk and forget about their miserable lives. What a petty existence. A petty existence that I have jealousy of, for they leave themselves up for chance to bring them to their knees and can blame the world when they lose. But, I loath them too, they allow chance to take them and blow them away with the rest of the leaves. But I am in no place to stop such gamblers from throwing their life away. I keep walking by them. I notice those working in the background, bringing around food to those who feel good after just winning $50 after spending $100. Those workers don’t care, they get their hourly wage and move on. I notice the manager in the back looking around making sure everything is running smoothly. He looks around nonchalantly and pulls out his phone and walks into the kitchen. I finally arrived where I belong, in the chess section, where one’s ability play and deceive is directly challenged and welcomed by another. My home away from home. I don’t barge in and declare myself better, for then I would be laughed at and mistaken for a lowly boy who has clearly not learned his place. I instead sit by the side and watch. Watch for an opponent who is willing to play me. One who will not decline a challenge. One who will try and win. I instantly see my target, a tall, skinny, bald, black man who is clearly beating his opponent. His opponent has a walmart name tag clearly still on there from work on his blue shirt stating “My name is Joe”. Just by observing the black man’s last few plays, I realize he knows what he’s doing and clearly outplaying his current opponent. The chess game comes to a close within the next few minutes with the inevitable loss of this so called Joe. He doesn’t seem to comprehend that he has lost until after a few seconds later. More than likely he just lost more than a weeks worth of work. Poor Joe. Nonetheless, he has to give up his money and it doesn’t look like he wants to. He gets this glint in his eye and stands up real quickly and starts to run but the black man was faster. The black man presses a button on the side of the table and two huge men step out from the shadows and quickly walk in an intersecting course of the exit and Joe. Just within a few steps of the door Joe has two huge arms on his shoulder preventing him from moving any further. Inevitably, Joe turns around and walks back to the black man and hands him the money. The two burly guards keep their hands on Joe and walk him out of the building. More then likely to return with a black eye and broken nose. I make my move. I walk up to the table and silently sit down on the padded stool. The black man doesn’t seem to notice me for a few seconds then says in a very threatening tone, “I’m done for the night, sorry.” “One quick game. Fifteen grand.” I say in the deepest voice I can muster. He looks up this time, looks me in the eye and goes back to counting his money “Three things boy: One, I said I was done for the night; two, fifteen grand is a mighty sum; and three, You’re a boy. Stealing from young people who don’t know what they’re doing goes against my morals.” “What man who is in the gambling business has morals. And besides, One quick game won’t hurt.” This time he starts to pack up his money then pauses and leaves it out saying “If you want to be beaten so bad, my morals can be bent to allow such things. So boy, white or black?” “White if you please.” I say as I pull out money for my side of the bargain and move my pawn forward. The standard opening. Wordlessly he counters and we begin our silent struggle. I purposely make bad moves and prolong the game so I am not accused of cheating. Last time I won too quickly I was accused of cheating and was kicked out. In the middle of the games the man starts becoming too confident. I quickly move in for the attack and checkmate him in the next three moves. I don’t even say it outloud, I just sit back and look at him closely. He doesn’t talk either, just stares. After staring for a good twenty seconds he puts his hand on the chessboard and swipes all the pieces off. “What kind of sorcery is this boy? Nobody beats me!” “I’m so sorry for the inconvenience but if you please, the money.” “No way I’m giving you money boy. You didn’t earn it fair and square.” This time I was the one to press the button on the side of the table. The same two big guys walk over and questioningly looks at the man. "Don't look at me you buffoons! He cheated!" "why deny it? You lost to a boy. Unfortunately for you, I have no morals holding me back." I taunt as the two big guards put their hands on the black man. At once he submitted and put his side of the deal on the table and just looks at me. “Don’t come here again, or this won’t be the last of it.” “I have no reason to beat you a second time, once is enough.” Now speaking to the guards, “Sorry fellas for the trouble, here.” I flick a fifty dollar chip to each of the body guards and quickly make my own way to the door. On my way out I see a finger being pointed at me and I make a run for it. Luckily nobody stops me as I make it out the door. As soon as I pack all the coins into my bag I face the same way I came it. Taking a deep breath, I see a cop car driving in. I start to walk straight at the car and look as much as a normal teenager as I can which mainly consists of looking as shady as I can. Funny how those two things come hand in hand. The policeman didn’t stop me as I walk right by and I keep walking to my makeshift home three miles away.
